These last few days, its been very uncomfortable at work because people kept bringing up religion at work. Because that Farewell died. The weird thing is, whenever people bring up religion at work, its always bashing on Christianity… Being a devoted Catholic, it’s not easy to sit through that.
The worst part is that your religion is not something you can outwardly show (unless you are Muslim I guess). Race, gender, and maybe even homosexuality is something that can be displayed so that people who have opinions about you can shut the f88k up. But religion… unless you want me to carry a fat cross around with me all day, NO ONE will be able to tell I am Catholic. That’s another point, no one can tell I am Catholic because I don’t go around hitting people over the head with a bible, or telling people they will go to hell. In fact, you will often find me joking about immortal things and making lewd gestures.
Anyways, my point is, I don’t think its fair for people to talk shit about religion at work. You don’t go to work and make fun of Asian people, females, or gays, so why do you think its ok to go to work and make fun of religion?? I don’t make fun of you, so shut the f$$ck up. If you want to make fun of me, make fun of my clothes, my hair, or my small p3n1s, don’t make fun of something that matters to me.
If you are reading this, you will ask, “why didn’t you say anything? , why didn’t you defend yourself?” WTF??? Why do I have to defend myself? I live in SF, the most diverse place on earth, why the hell do I have to defend myself against prejudice and hatred? I am not living in the South in 1940… :roll:
