It’s not uncommonly for you to hear someone say
“I hope I won’t regret eating this X day old Y”.
Replace X with an expiration time frame, and Y with a food item.
I just don’t get it.
If you are forcing yourself to eat old/expired food because you are on some sort quest to rid the world of hunger, I’ve got news for you… You, stuffing your face with spoiled Y (replace with food item), does not mean some poor kid in Africa will suddenly be full.
Same goes for people who forces themselves to finish a large quantity of food because their parents told them “not to waste food”. Once again, you, stuffing that last slice of pizza down your throat, is not going to help anyone. In fact, it’ll probably just end up as a health problem for you later down the road.
I guess it counts if, instead of buying a new Y (replace with food item), you eat the expired one to save yourself money, carbon foodprint, etc… then that’s a noble action. But then again, the noblest of action is just not to purchase that huge quantity in the first place?
Disclaimer: My wife will surely comment on how I am the biggest waster of food, and how I am hypocrite and I should shut up. Blah blah blah. Yes, I am a waster of food. But that’s not my point. My point is, people should not force themselves to eat spoiled food. It does not do anyone, any good.
